Media Relations and Speech Writing Workshop

ALGWA has engaged PEAK Services to deliver a 3 hour workshop (including lunch) on Media Relations and Speech Writing. Kim Skubris will be our facilitator. This workshop will provide you will skills to write powerful messages, media releases, alerts and information sheets. Kim will also share how to attract media attention, what journalists look for, how to pitch a story, ‘talent’ and how to prepare them, crisis communication strategies and how to write and inspiring speech.

Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association Queensland Branch will be taking place in Brisbane on Thursday, 1 September 2022. This will be a face-to-face meeting.
You are now invited to submit Motions for Consideration at our Annual General Meeting
This is an opportunity for you to put forward motions for the meeting to debate. You do not need to have the support of your council/organisation as it is an opportunity for you as a member of ALGWA to put forward any issues that you are passionate about. When preparing your motion, would you please include background information giving particular attention to all relevant facts and, where appropriate, costings/figures.
It would be appreciated if you could please forward these motions to me via email by the closing date of Friday, 5 August 2022. Following the close of motions, an agenda will be prepared and distributed prior to the meeting.
Call for Nominations for the Management Committee:
All positions on the Management Committee will be declared vacant at the AGM. Nominations are now open for all 9 positions on the Management Committee of the ALGWA Queensland Branch Inc. The positions on the Management Committee are:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Publicity Officer
- 4 Zone Representatives
The term of office is for a period of two (2) years. Management Committee elections will be held at the Annual General Meeting to be held in Brisbane on Thursday, 1 September 2022. Further information on the Position Descriptions for Executive Management Team 2018 2020 of Management Committee members is attached for your information.
How do I nominate?
- You must be a current financial individual member of ALGWA Qld Branch
- Complete the Nomination form for vacant positions ALGWA Executive 2022 2024 and have two (2) current financial members endorse your nomination
- Contact your zone representative for additional information via our website – www.algwaqld.asn.au
