Welcome to the Australian Local Government Women’s Association – Queensland Branch
For those who don’t know me, I am Jo McNally and I have been a Councillor on Southern Downs Regional Council since 2010. I am married to Ian and mother to two sons, Samuel 22 and Joseph 20 and I have lived in Warwick for about 30 years.
My professional background was Finance and Administration and I was a Queensland Police Officer. I have been a member of ALGWA Queensland since 2010 when Mally McMurtrie, former Councillor at Stanthorpe Shire Council and later Southern Downs Regional Council and Julie Michaels former Planning Officer at Southern Downs Regional Council and also a Councillor herself prior to the 2008 amalgamations, encouraged me to join and I will always be truly thankful for their words of encouragement and the relationships I have formed over the years. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the upcoming year at the various functions the Management Committee has planned.
As President of ALGWA Queensland I am proud to announce that the Management Committee has some very exciting opportunities for members to undertake in the next 12 months to ensure as an organisation we achieve our mission “To encourage, educate and support those interested in local government”.
2021 will again be another challenging year in local government and we have kept that in mind when we were workshopping what professional development opportunities to offer you as members. Please feel free to contact me if you have any ideas for workshops you would like to see delivered.
